| Fort Atkinson Rendezvous Not only is it a fun time, but a visit to Fort Atkinson Rendezvous Days in September can be educational. With fun and education in mind each year during Rendezvous Days Friday is set aside as "School Day". During the 35th Annual Rendezvous in 2011 over 1000 students representing 26 different schools attended. We had a chance to visit with Al Becker a former Turkey Valley history teacher who is one of the organizers and leaders of the event and you can hear the interview as well as see him and others set off a cannon and more on one of the "Tube" reports below. We also had a chance to visit with a man from Iowa Falls who does several Civil War Re-enactments each year, but also makes it a point to always be in Fort for the Rendezvous and he provides a fun history lesson about the soldiers who were stationed at Fort Atkinson back in the 1840s in our other report on this page. You'll find both enjoyable as well as educational! |
