    Richard Barnes, 79, of Harmony, MN passed away on Thursday, April
    22, 2010 at his residence.

    Richard was born on July 4, 1930 in rural Harmony, MN to Lester and
    Ella Barnes. He graduated in 1948 from Decorah High School. Richard
    married Donna Stortz on July 18, 1948 at the State Line United
    Methodist Church they settled in rural Harmony. They raised dairy and
    black Angus cattle, he was especially proud of being cattleman of the
    year in 1990. He was one of the founders of the Fillmore County
    Cattleman's Association, and he was very active in his children's 4H, and
    loved to watch his boys wrestle. He was on many cattle boards, served
    on many on the school board and on the church cemetery board. He
    enjoyed camping, the Minnesota State Fair, and traveling. After his
    retirement, he enjoyed making many trips with his Amish friends. His
    greatest pride and joy was his family; especially his many grandchildren.

    Richard is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Donna of Harmony,
    MN; sons, Don (Julie) of Harmony, MN, Dennis (Renee) of Harmony, MN,
    Doug (Liz) of Lincoln, NE, and David (Michelle) of Kenosha, WI;
    daughters, Patricia (Ray) Kirchmeyer of Arbor Vitae, WI, and Peggy
    (Richard) Erickson of Farmington, MN; 19 grandchildren; 23 great
    grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; two brothers, Allen and
    Kenny (Yvonne); three sisters, Liz Mostrom, Eileen Smith, and Dorothy
    (John) Esse, and sisters-in-law Kathryn Fishbaugher and Norma

    He was preceded in death by his parents, mother and father-in-law
    Frank and Mabel Stortz; a brother Ronnie; a grandson Richard Leslie,
    and four brothers-in-law, Spencer Mostrom, Earl Smith, Francis Stortz,
    and Jack Fishbaugher.


    Friends may call from 4-7 p.m. at the Lindstrom Funeral Home in
    Harmony, MN, and also one hour prior to services at the church.


    Funeral services will be held on Monday, April 26, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. at
    the United Methodist Church in Harmony, MN.


    Burial will be in State Line Cemetery in rural Harmony, MN.
