| Bellevue 29 Turkey Valley 28 It was one of those games that for a young football player is bitter to take at the time...even the fans young and old had a bitter pill to swallow when Bellevue scored with 5.5 seconds left to play in the game to pull victory away from the Turkey Valley Trojans at its 50th Homecoming Game! However, the next morning you get up and realize the sun is still shining and life is still good and lessons were learned from the 29-28 defeat the first loss in district play during the 2011 season. You must also give credit to the Comets. They did what they had to do and marched down the field in the final 3 minutes after Jordan Schmitt dove into the end zone to break a 22-22 tie and give the Trojans the lead, 28-22. The missed 2-point conversion would prove to be one of the more important plays of the game. At one time in the first half the Trojans built a 2 touchdown lead and looked like they were well on their way to their fourth consecutive win in district play, but they just couldn't put the team from Bellevue away like they had the previous district foes. The Bellevue group was much improved from a year ago and was led by its Junior Quarterback Cole Reeg who as cool as a cucumber on a late September evening rolled left looking, looking, and looking until he found Alex Losbaker open in the end zone to tie the game with just 5.5 seconds remaining. The kicked point after was the final dagger for the Trojans in this game, but much season still remains. The Trojans looked like a MASH unit late in the game when at least 4 players had to come out; Luke Kuennen, Jordan Mitchell, Joe Adams, and Brian Kuhn. We do not wish to speculate on the injuries severity or the status of any of the players for the remaining of the season. Coming up in our videos below we'll hear from the 2011 Queen Paula Kovarik, Jordan Mitchell, and Coach Mark Scott. Also see the final drives of the game and other highlights. |
| Jordan Mitchell was 1 of the 4 Trojans injured in the 4th Quarter and helped off the field and did not return. There was some speculation that his season might be over. Things look a lot better than many thought and we had a chance to talk to Jordan and he talks not only about the pain of the injury, but the much worse pain of "The agony of defeat". Jordan is upbeat and says don't count the Trojans out just yet...Hear the interview and the one with Coach Scott and see the First Half Highlights on the video below. |
